Murshidabad University, Berhampur was established in 2018 following the passing of West Bengal Act 18 by the West Bengal Legislature and began operating in 2021. The university is an upgrade of Krishnanath College, one of the oldest colleges established by the Government of West Bengal under the East India Company on November 18, 1853. This educational hub with its rich heritage now functions as a state university with UGC approval and NAAC accreditation.
